University Capstone
UNST 421 – University Capstone ….6 Quarter Credits
This course is designed to familiarize students with the field of crime prevention. Course participants will start with a review of applicable theories. Students will then participate in a research project that documents our current knowledge on a specific crime problem, including reviews of published research, analyses of relevant crime data, and qualitative interviews with criminal justice professionals. These materials will then be used to generate prevention and/or intervention strategies for the given crime problem. In addition to archiving the findings on the internet, students will end the class by developing scripts and storyboards for a crime prevention video that can be disseminated to the community and criminal justice agencies.
