Admission Requirements

Admission Requirements

Applications for admission to Portland State University’s online Criminology & Criminal Justice programs are accepted four times annually.

To be eligible for admission into Portland State University’s Bachelor of Science in Criminology & Criminal Justice program, applicants must meet the following qualifications:

  • Have 45-quarter credit hours (30 semester hours) of transferable college work*
  • Meet minimum GPA requirement: 2.25, or 2.0 if student has earned an Associate of Arts, Science or Oregon Transfer Module (OTM)
  • Complete WR 121 or its equivalent college-level writing course with a grade of C – or better

*Portland State University requires that credits must be college-level courses with a passing grade from a regionally accredited college or university that is not deemed vocational or technical.

Applicants who are interested in pursuing the Post-Baccalaureate Certificate of Criminology & Criminal Justice must meet the following qualifications:

  • Have earned a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited program

Applicants who are interested in pursuing the Certificate of the American Justice System, Certificate of Criminal Behavior, or Certificate of Advanced Crime Analysis may apply as Non-Degree, but it is recommended that the following qualification be met:

  • Have 45-quarter credit hours (30 semester hours) of transferable college work*
